Suzuki Swift Review

Swift by name, swift by nature. Suzuki’s nippy little supermini hatchback is the perfect car for the daily commute, urban living or even a drive down your favourite road.

The Suzuki Swift comes with three zesty, characterful engines that relish being revved. There’s a 97hp 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol that's a real gem to use. It is pared with a slick-shifting five-speed gearbox with a super-light clutch. An efficient 1.3-litre diesel returning 78.5mpg while emitting only 109g/km of CO2 is also available, while the range-topping Swift Sport has a high-performance 1.6-litre petrol.

Available in both three and five-door form, the Suzuki Swift is a practical, space efficient supermini that offers bags of flexibility. With 211 litres of boot space, the Swift will easily seat five with room for luggage. All trim levels come with ISOFIX anchorage points and 60/40 split folding rear seats, increasing the boot space to a seriously roomy 528 litres.

The Swift’s cabin is generously appointed. A leather covered three-spoke sporty steering wheel comes as standard – giving great feedback for the Swift’s excellent driving dynamics – as does an MP3 compatible CD player complete with six-speakers, steering wheel mounted audio controls and plenty of in-car storage. Bluetooth integrated voice control with music streaming capability is also available on SZ4 trim levels.

With a full five-star Euro NCAP crash test rating, the Swift is as safe as it is stylish. Suzuki fits ESP stability control as standard, along with ABS brakes featuring Electronic Brake force distribution and Brake Assist Function,. There are also front driver and passenger plus side and curtain airbags, foot-protecting brake and clutch pedals and side impact protection beams as standard.

The Suzuki Swift’s standard remote central locking and immobiliser functions will keep your prized possessions secure. There are also deadlocks and freewheeling key cylinders that can't be forced open as they simply turn freely if a false key is inserted.
