A Car of the Year winner, the Mazda 2 is a stylish supermini for the young at heart who also need lots of space and practicality. With headturning looks inspired by Mazda's world-famous sports cars, the Mazda 2 cuts a dash in any situation, further enhanced by a choice of among the brightest, most modern metallic colours Mazda offers.

The Mazda designers in Japan have ensured the Mazda is highly flexible and space efficient too. Available with three or five-doors, all Mazda 2 are extremely spacious inside, with room for five and a 250-litre boot. All models come with folding rear seats that further extends this space to a commodious 787 litres. All trim levels come with air conditioning, electric windows and remote central locking with a handy folding flip-key.

Mazda has ensured the Mazda 2 takes sports car inspiration in other areas. As with the Mazda MX-5, close attention to detail means the Mazda 2 is one of the lightest superminis on the market, which saves fuel, cuts CO2 emissions and makes it even more fun to drive. Two 1.3-litre petrol engines average over 55mpg despite their nippy nature, and even the lively 102hp 1.5-litre averages over 48mpg. There is also a 1.6-litre diesel that emits just 110g/km CO2.

The Mazda 2 is very safe and secure, with Euro NCAP awarding it a full five-star crash safety rating. All models come with the reassurance of ABS brakes and twin front airbags, while ESC stability control comes on many trims too. Mazda even fits ISOFIX child seat anchorages and a trio of three-point rear seatbelts. With all this as standard, Mazda ensures it is all kept secure when you leave it with a standard alarm for all models.
